Some notes when purchasing stainless steel (Part II)

In some factories, during the process of leveling stainless steel plates, there will be obvious thickness deviations, and the thickness may be reduced by about 10-15%. Taking 1mm 304 grade stainless steel as an example, a thickness deviation of 10-15% is reflected in the price, which is equivalent to a price difference of approximately 230-350 USD per ton. The most direct impact is on short-ton delivery, that is, you buy 100 tons, but the actual delivery is only 85-90 tons. In addition, insufficient thickness may also affect your project plan or subsequent processing and other issues.

4.Hardness or elongation doesn’t meet the standard

Stainless steel produced by small-scale manufacturers generally has poor hardness and elongation. Due to limitations in production equipment and process levels, the same batch of stainless steel produced by small factories may have inconsistent hardness and uneven elongation. This can significantly affect the usability and service life of the product.

To avoid falling into these traps, we suggest that when purchasing stainless steel products:

1. Confirm specifications, tolerances, grades and other information and write it into the contract to avoid troubles as much as possible.

2. Pay attention to the temptation of low prices that deviate from market conditions. High prices may not necessarily be good products, but low prices must be bad products.

3. Select reputable and experienced suppliers to protect your purchasing interests.

4. Require product inspection reports or quality assurance certificates to ensure that products comply with standards and specifications.
