What is the difference between aluminized steel Type 1 and Type 2?

Type 1 (T1) has an aluminum-silicon coating for heat resistance up to about 677 C continuous service; Type 2 (T2) has a pure aluminum coating mainly for atmospheric corrosion resistance. MESCO supplies Type 1 as the mainstream Chinese production grade.

What coating weights are available?

Coating weights range from 80 g/m2 to 300 g/m2 per ASTM A463. MESCO is among the few suppliers able to deliver heavy coatings above 240 g/m2.

Can aluminized steel withstand high temperature?

Yes. The Al-Si layer forms a stable oxidation barrier, making it ideal for heat exchangers, mufflers, oven liners, chimneys and burners.
